Joining the Chamber is the first step to developing more revenue and profits for your business. Your next step is getting involved through a committee. The Heights Chamber has committees that meet regularly as well as seasonally.
Standing Committees:
  • The Ambassadors Committee focuses on welcoming and involving new members in the Chamber. Ambassadors act as liaisons to newcomers, showing them how to make the most of membership. Ambassadors are seen at each event and wear a bright green name tag so they are easily identified by new members. The Ambassadors Committee meets the second Monday of each month from 12:30 -1:30 pm at the Chamber office.
  • The Communications Committee meets regularly to evaluate and improve the current marketing channels being used by the Chamber. Considerations include the annual membership directory, Linked newsletter, email campaigns and the Web site.
  • Community Involvement: Giving back to the community is the focal point of this committee. Member sponsors help the Chamber award scholarships each year to deserving area high school students. Chamber member take time to donate much-needed school supplies to an area school where deserving students have a need. In addition, the committee identifies needy and worthwhile recipients and uses member donations and contributions to assist an organization.
  • Crime Prevention: Initiated in 2011, this committee brings together law enforcement and member businesses monthly to build and enhance working relationships to help reduce crime in the area served by the Chamber.
  • The Governmental Affairs Committee has as its goal the building of rapport and on-going relationships with city, county and state elected governmental representatives. Results will allow members to stay abreast of critical business issues, monitor voting records and understand the candidates and elected official’s positions.
  • Heights Young Professionals Organization (HYPO): Recognizing the need for an organization dedicated to young professionals, the Chamber organized and introduced the Heights Young Professional Organization. This is a new forum for the mid-twenties to late thirties age group who are interested in building their professional skills and networking in a collaborative environment.
  • The Membership Development Committee follows up with new prospects identified by the membership and others to encourage organizations to join the Chamber. Involvement in this committee also offers high visibility to prospective and new members.
  • The Scholarship Committee is in charge of managing the fundraising for scholarships provided area students. The Committee also reviews all scholarship applications and determines the winners each year through a standard process.
